Bluetooth laser meters

Floor Plan Creator supports Bosch™ and Leica Disto™ bluetooth laser meters. Application can read distance measurements from a laser meter and apply them on a floor plan.

Supported models

Application also supports newer models that require Bluetooth Smart (4.0) on devices with Android 4.3 or higher: Bosch™ laser meters are supported on devices with Android 4.0 or higher.

Configuration

The fastest way to connect your laser meter with android device is to perform device pairing. In application settings, you can enable automatic connection of paired devices - it is disabled by default. If you experience problems with pairing you can also connect devices manually.

Pairing

Enable bluetooth on both devices, open android bluetooth settings and click "Search for devices". When device is found click its name to pair.

If you experience problems with pairing: turn on laser meter and wait 10-20 seconds before you pair it with the phone. You can also try to disable and enable bluetooth again.

Manual connection

With newer laser meters it is not always possible to pair them with your android device. In such case application will display bluetooth device search dialog when you start room measure command or press bluetooth icon in the length input keyboard. Wait until name of your laser meter appears in the dialog and click it to connect. It may take up to 10-30 seconds to connect.

How to use

When devices are paired and you open a floor plan, application will try to connect any available paired device. You will see a notification when device is connected or if there are any problems. Alternatively, bluetooth search dialog will be displayed after starting room measure command or after pressing bluetooth button in the length input dialog if there are no paired devices.

After successful connection select an element to modify (wall, symbol, dimension line value) and measure its length with laser meter. Most devices transfer measurements automatically, but some (Leica D3a BT) require pressing bluetooth button to transfer the measurement to the application.

After receiving the measurement application displays input dialog with the measurement. Pressing OK applies received measurement.

For symbols that have two dimensions (width and height), you must choose the dimension to modify before you can transfer measurements. Click one of two buttons at the top of the screen that display width and height of the symbol to show input dialog to be able to transfer the data.

It is also possible to measure whole room at once. First, add a new room (use predefined shapes or sketch it using "Draw" tool), select it and press "Measure" icon in the toolbar. Then, measure each highlighted wall. After each measurement application will go to the next wall automatically.

Measure tool does not modify angles between walls - it is moving walls, not individual corners. When all walls of a room are measured application calculates total measurement error and applies corrections proportionally to each corner. That is necessary to preserve original shape of a room, while applying new lengths of walls.

Connection problems

For Bosch GLM devices it is important to use them in "Length" mode instead of "Real time" mode. Click "Func" button to set the mode.

If it is not possible to pair your Leica device, please check configuration of your laser meter. Select correct way of communication and disable the encryption. Below you can see correct configuration.

For Hersch LEM50, click the Bluetooth icon in the laser meter settings twice, until letter 'A' appears on top of it.

Remote measure trigger

When connection is established, clicking the Bluetooth icon in the length input dialog will trigger remote measure on laser meter. This functionality is currently available for some models of: Mileseey, Suaoki, Hersch, Hilti, Stabila and Leica devices.
